79% of the world’s poor live in rural areas and depend on agriculture. We take a targeted approach of translational research and development, to improve farm profitability around the world, with a particular focus on the developing world.

Recent farmer protests around the world, beginning in India, highlight how agricultural challenges are driving social unrest, farmer suicides, food adulteration, and related problems. The solution lies in increasing farm profitability in a sustainable way.

Agriculture in highly populous countries is largely unsustainable. Sustainability is therefore a central priority in our operations and decision-making.

The availability and overuse of precious fresh water for irrigation is emerging as the single greatest constraint on agricultural sustainability. Improving the water-use efficiency of crops is therefore urgent

Crop diversification is especially needed in high-production systems, yet it is rarely adopted because economic alternatives are lacking. Providing crop options that deliver equal or better farm profitability is our primary
